"In-Vitro Veritas" is a state-of-the art core facility Imaging Center of a National Life Science academic institution, whose mission is to provide imaging diagnostics and microscopy education to thousands of students across several campuses.
Using recent Government stimulus grants, Imaging Center acquired the latest cutting edge microscopy equipment including fully automated confocal microscope that can produce 3D imaging data to deliver new insight into imaging diagnostics. Now the Imaging Center seeks to find the way to teach thousands of students how to use confocal fluorescent microscopy images for research and diagnostics.
"In-Vitro Veritas" uses Simagis Live Virtual Microscopy solution to create library of virtual microscopy slides and utilizes them in microscopy courses for all students across campuses. Support for multiple image layers enables presentation of 3D multichannel data, so a complete microscopy slide can be presented in all its colors.
From their workspaces, students can access virtual slides that have been assigned for the class from the common library. They use annotation and measurement tools to complete assignments online and submit reports to the instructor. Instructors can quickly review work online and use annotations to provide feedback.
Virtual Microscopy application is deployed on reliable, scalable, inexpensive cloud-computing platform by Amazon Web Services, so Imaging Center has no hardware, software, or networking concerns. For uploading large volumes of imaging data, Simagis Live users can simply mail hard drives with images to Amazon Import Service. And because "In-Vitro Veritas" is a part of academic organization that has an academic collaboration agreement with Smart Imaging Technologies, they use Simagis Live Virtual Microscopy application free, and only pay for actual Amazon resources that they use.
